It seems Barack Obama keeps inspiring musicians all over the US.
Will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas just released this music video called « Yes we Can »
Says an article on ABC News, the video is inspired by Obama’s victory speech after his victory in the New Hampshire primary
Features by Scarlett Johansson, John Legend, Kate Walsh, and lots of other celebrities French people don’t know about.
Apparently the video was made without Obama knowing, or consent, which reminded me of that other videos by « Obama girl »
and the sequel Obama vs Giuliani (avant que giuliani se retire de la course aux primaires)
(both through barely political)
The question is : do those videos help or hurt Obama’s campaign? Although I think the « obama girl » videos didn’t do any good, I’m not sure about the will.i.am song. It could either be seen as a « Aaargh those fucking democcrats always with the Hollywood crowd » or be a « get up and vote young people » kind of song.
Either way, just a few more fun videos from the US presidential campaigns which I think are still way more inventive than ours!

Le SSP c’est le Sarah Silverman Program. Sarah Silverman est une comique américaine qui adore faire du politiquement incorrect. Ses sketchs sont souvent méchants, pas toujours drôles, mais quand ils le sont c’est vraiment hilarant.
Ce que j’aime le plus c’est qu’elle sort depuis genre 6 ans avec Jimmy Kimmel, un hôte de late night show (comme Conan O’brien ou David Letterman) et que régulièrement il l’invite sur son plateau. Ils se font des sessions de bitchin et d’auto promos franchement sympas.
Bref la dernière fois qu’elle est allée sur son show elle lui a offert un cadeau:
J’adore voir Matt Damon (que personnellement je ne trouve pas sexy du tout Non non! pas taper!) faire le guignol.
(vous aviez peut-être entendu parler de Sarah Silverman à cause de ses blagues au moment où Paris Hilton allait en prison :
ou encore des derniers mtv vmas et de ce qu’elle a fait sur britney spears (je trouve pas de version sous-titrée, n’hésitez pas si vous en avez une!)

« SYDNEY (AFP) – Santas in Australia’s largest city have been told not to use Father Christmas’s traditional « ho ho ho » greeting because it may be offensive to women, it was reported Thursday.Sydney’s Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say « ha ha ha » instead, the Daily Telegraph reported.
One disgruntled Santa told the newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use « ho ho ho » because it could frighten children and was too close to « ho », a US slang term for prostitute.
« Gimme a break, » said Julie Gale, who runs the campaign against sexualising children called Kids Free 2B Kids.
« We are talking about little kids who do not understand that « ho, ho, ho » has any other connotation and nor should they, » she told the Telegraph.
« Leave Santa alone. »
A local spokesman for the US-based Westaff recruitment firm said it was « misleading » to say the company had banned Santa’s traditional greeting and it was being left up to the discretion of the individual Santa himself. »

Depuis deux jours, Héloïse vient en cours avec des tasses Starbucks particulières. Elles sont bien sûres aux couleurs de Noël parce qu’après tout c’est dans 45 jours, et que Starbucks en a profité pour refaire ses tasses et sa carte, et augmenter du même coup de 30 centimes leur café déjà hyper cher!
Mais le truc vraiment sympa, c’est l’inventivité au niveau du prénom.
Héloïse donc, s’appelle Héloïse. Niveau surnoms il y a Hélo, Lolie et Moïse (don’t ask).
Mais pas chez Starbucks! Nan, là-bas elle s’est appelée « Hélouise » hier, et « Elodie » aujourd’hui!
Je suis un peu vexée je veux une tasse Saicille.
So, Dumbledore is gay.
Yup you guys, while I was actively joining Facebook groups named « Not my daughter you Bitch! » or « Albus Severus, what an infortunate name », JK Rowling was busy finding a way to keep people talking about her little Harry.
And what has she come up with? After a reading of the last book, she answered questions, one of which was « Has Dumbledore found true love? » According to CNN,
« Dumbledore is gay, » the author responded to gasps and applause.
She then explained that Dumbledore was smitten with rival Gellert Grindelwald, whom he defeated long ago in a battle between good and bad wizards. « Falling in love can blind us to an extent, » Rowling said of Dumbledore’s feelings, adding that Dumbledore was « horribly, terribly let down. »
Dumbledore’s love, she observed, was his « great tragedy. »
Has she actually thought of that or is it just marketing (not that Harry really needs it but still)? Whatever. This just brings more goodies from fanzines, journalists and the blogosphere.

Depuis quelques semaines, le prof d’anglais nous nargue en nous parlant d’un invité de marque américain qui devrait venir à Sciences-Po en guest star.
On sait juste qu’il/elle est plus ou moins journaliste, et j’ai décidé que le plus ou moins voulait dire moins journaliste que comique et que donc c’était Stephen Colbert ou John Stewart. Je sens que non parce qu’ils ne sont pas assez connus en France mais j’espère quand même.
Plus de news dès que j’en ai! En attendant, Colbert vient de sortir un bouqin « I am America. And so can you! » et pour fêter ça il s’est présenté aux élections présidentielles américaines.
